On May 30, 2023 (88 FR 34568), the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) published a Notice [Docket No. PHMSA-2021-0092 (HM-215Q)] in the Federal Register (FR) proposing to amend the Hazardous Materials Regulations in 49 CFR Parts 171 – 180 to maintain alignment with international regulations and standards by adopting various amendments, including changes to proper shipping names, hazard classes, packing groups, special provisions, packaging authorizations, air transport quantity limitations, and vessel stowage requirements. Comments must be received by July 31, 2023. To the extent possible, PHMSA will consider late-filed comments while a final rule is developed.
