On July 06, 2021 (86 FR 35449), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) in the federal register proposing to amend the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) in 49 CFR Part 393 to increase the area within which certain vehicle safety technology devices may be mounted on the interior of the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) windshields. In addition, FMCSA proposes to add items to the definition of vehicle safety technology. This NPRM responds to a rulemaking petition from Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). Comments must be received on or before August 5, 2021.
