On January 06, 2023 (88 FR 1114), the Department of Transportation (DOT) published a Final Rule in the Federal Register (FR) to adjust the level of civil penalty amounts that may be imposed for violations of certain DOT regulations. The 2023 civil penalty adjustments are summarized for each of DOT’s operating administrations, Office of the Secretary (OST), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), Maritime Administration (MARAD), and Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (GLS). This final rule is effective January 6, 2023.
